Jesus, Fill me With Your Spirit

A few years ago, I learned a phrase that has helped me with frustration and challenges in life, and especially in parenting. It is a powerful “adult” version of the popular phrase, What Would Jesus Do. The phrase, “Jesus fill me with your spirit,” is something I try to whisper to myself whenever things get stressful or I feel overwhelmed. My child is being defiant? Jesus fill me with your spirit. The car in front of me cut me off? Jesus fill me with your spirit. And so on. This phrase calms my spirit and helps me to not react out of anger. It brings peace and a clearer mind. It offers comfort when I’m feeling alone in my struggles.

Today, try to inject this phrase into your life. Write it down somewhere you will revisit frequently (when i first heard it, I wrote it in my notes section on my iPhone) and reference it until it becomes a habit.

“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:10 NIV
