Last night, my church, Cross Point, had a prayer and worship time. As it began, James Savage, the Dixon campus pastor said, “Trust what we say, think, and know about God to be true.” That spoke straight to my anxious heart. What do we know? We know that God is sovereign, he is in control, and HE IS GOOD. God is in control, we are not. Anxiety stems from not feeling like you’re in control somewhere in your life, but we can gain peace knowing that when we aren’t in control, God is. We can trust him and his perfect provision.
Today, if you are feeling anxious, name your anxiety out loud. Speak it, write it, acknowledge it tangibly so that you can release it. It does not hold you captive. When you name your anxiety, release it to God and let him take the reins.
“I lift my eyes up to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth…The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Psalm 121 NIV
