I think we can all agree that life is messy. We are wired to want to clean up every little inconvenience in life, but sometimes it does us good to just stop and embrace the mess. When life gets messy, it’s a good time for us to reflect on what is happening around us and what we can learn from the situation at hand. It also gives us the opportunity to be a light to those around us whether through our mess or during theirs. Messes inconvenience us and urge us to slow down. Sometimes, we need to embrace that mess and do just that – slow down.
Today, embrace the mess by staying in the moment and not neurotically cleaning up every little thing. You might already be accustomed to being home, or maybe there’s a temporary new “normal” where you’re working from home, homeschooling your kids, getting used to more family being home, or all of the above. Be a light in this time. Don’t allow the extra messes in your home to aggravate or stress you out. Breathe. Be in the moment and embrace the mess, because the mess means there is life happening.
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
